This was our second and final day of preparations. After today, we would have one day at the Heart of AN either preparing for ceremonies or making ceremonies here, followed by a day going somewhere else to make ceremonies.
Today, our focus was on the Drums of AN which we would need for the rest of our ceremonies. Everyone who didn’t already have one. received their Drum of AN. The rest of the day was spent painting them. It was very exciting to watch them emerge. They were some of the freshest, most vibrant designs we have ever seen!
We also had our first auditions for pututu players which are the traditional Peruvian conch shell trumpets. Pututus are notoriously difficult to play, yet every time we hold auditions, we find some new people who are just natural pututu players!
On the next day, the long awaited November 11 or 11•11, our Ceremonies would begin!
