Catching Up at the Heart of AN: Part One
For the past few months, I’ve been concentrating on writing my new book. Now, I’m taking a break from it and trying to catch up on other things ~ like the Photo Journeys of the Heart of AN.
The first of August is the beginning of the Andean New Year. Every year, we make offerings of Pika Pika yellow confetti and red wine to Pachamama on this day. Emanaku, Pedro and his sons Yohjan and Alexander and I went around the entrances to the land and all our buildings giving our offerings. This year, we also made Mandalas of Kintus of Coca Leaves which were put into the Four Directions, as well as around the center of the Tower of AN. We ended up doing the SUN – MOON – AN Meditation together. Doing this takes a long time, but it feels good to do this.
Everything is still quiet here with few visitors, which is perfect for book writing. Emanaku read a printout of what I have written so far (around 1200 pages) and likes my book! My first reader! I still have the first and last sections to finish, as well as the Introduction and Afterword. Then I will begin another round of editing ~ this time incorporating Emanaku’s very helpful editing suggestions.
This Photo Journey takes us to the end of August. Part Two, which goes to the second week of October, will be uploaded in a few days. And then we will be caught up for awhile.

- Pedro’s two sons Alexander and Yohjan really enjoyed participating with us, as did our three dogs: Cachorro, Manzana and Tika.

- We went around the Tower of AN and placed Kintu Mandalas in each of the sections between the Eleven Rays.

- Alexander and Yohjan were fully present and I’m sure Pachamama could feel all the love and gratitude being directed to her? All the while, the Alpacas of AN watched us with great curiosity.

- Afterwards, we all sat around the Tower of AN and did the SUN – MOON – AN Mudra.

- Emanaku made a time lapse video of the night sky full of shooting stars and the Pleiades!

- A Shooting Star passes by the Milky Way. We have no idea what caused the colored lights at the bottom of the photo, as this happened in the middle of the night.

- We made a visit to Pisac’s new Artisan Market, looking for treasures for our AN•Mercado.

- Inside the Market, there were few visitors, but lots of things to buy.

- Sweet Alpaca Crias on display at the Annual Fair in Yanamayo.

- We actually got our new dog Tika True Heart for Manzana who was a bit bored with so few visitors here. At first, Tika was too perky for Manzana, but now they are great friends and have lots of fun together.

- Tika True Heart is slowly learning how to be a good dog. She has a very good heart.

- Worlds within Worlds inside our water pozo near the vegetable garden. For some reason, this reminds me of Orongo Crater on Rapa Nui.

- We visited the annual Ceramics Fair in the nearby town of Calca. Although the Fair was smaller than usual, it felt like a victory just to be there, since the Fair had been cancelled the previous year.

- In late August, Emanaku followed our water canal all the way to beyond the next village. This is the section of the canal right outside the adobe walls of the Heart of AN.

- This canal was originally built during Inca times.

- Emanaku passed cultivated fields called chakras in Quechua.

- There are so many ancient faces in this rock.

We went to the restaurant El Huacatay one afternoon when the Sun was illuminating the huge poinsettia trees.
